Got Bad Guts? Gut Directed Hypnotherapy can help

Do you experience abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, or constipation?

If you're experiencing any of the above "bad gut" symptoms, you may have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a chronic gastrointestinal (GI) disorder involving the large intestine (colon).

With a prevalence of approximately 10–15%, IBS is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders in the industrialized world. It’s estimated that in NZ, at least 7% of the population is currently experiencing IBS.

It’s only possible to estimate the actual number because, unfortunately, many people never discuss their bowel problems with their doctor. They are either embarrassed to do so, or they do not realise that what they are experiencing is abnormal. They may have had mild GI symptoms for most of their life and so developed coping strategies and/or got used to living with the discomfort and disruption their bowel symptoms cause.

The symptoms of IBS can vary from person to person and range in severity to the point where they are debilitating, and significantly impact a person's quality of life.

How do you know if your bad gut symptoms are IBS?

To find out if you are experiencing IBS, it's important to see your doctor to get a medical diagnosis. Your GP or specialist will explore whether there is an anatomical reason for your bowel problems, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac, infections, and cancer.

A diagnosis for IBS is one of exclusion. This means IBS is diagnosed once other GI diseases have been ruled out, usually following a battery of exploratory tests, all of which return negative results. The reason IBS doesn’t show up in these tests is because it is a ‘functional’ disorder. This means there are no structural or biochemical abnormalities present to account for the symptoms.

Your treatment plan should include gut directed hypnotherapy

If you get an IBS diagnosis your doctor will discuss a treatment plan with you. While currently there is no cure for IBS, there are treatments that can help relieve your symptoms.

Because there is no one-size-fits-all treatment for IBS, it's important to work with your doctor to find a plan that's right for you. The plan will usually include a combination of medication, dietary changes, stress management training, cognitive behavioural therapy and gut directed hypnotherapy (GDH). If your doctor doesn't mention gut directed hypnotherapy  be sure to ask that this be included in your plan.

Why include gut directed hypnotherapy in your IBS treatment plan?

Research by the British Psychological Society, British Medical Journal, (UK) National Institute of Clinical Excellence, (US) National Institutes of Health has confirmed that gut directed hypnotherapy (GDH) is the most effective therapy for IBS.

A recent study from Australia found that around 70% of people reduced their gut-related symptoms after six weeks of gut-directed hypnotherapy.

This is an amazing result, but it’s important to remember that while gut-directed hypnotherapy continues to help many people manage their symptoms, it’s not a cure.

GDH has additional benefits too. It is non-invasive, drug-free, has no side effects. And helps restore the quality of life that as an IBS sufferer you’ve been missing for so long.

GDH is so effective because unlike other treatments, it directly addresses the 'miscommunication' between the brain and gut which is one of the key factors that maintains IBS. In fact, IBS is now named a ‘disorder of the gut-brain interface.’

Imagine a life free of IBS

Imagine living your life without your gut issues? Thanks to GDH you stop imagining that life and make it your reality!

GDH and the Hypnosis4IBS Program

I developed my bespoke Hypnosis4IBS Program to help people with IBS gain rapid, significant symptom relief and regain their quality of life.

This tried and tested program delivers rapid results using a combination of GDH and cutting-edge psychological techniques. You can expect to start experiencing benefits after the first session.

In creating the program, I called on my decade of hypnotherapy experience and knowledge gained from working with many hundreds of clients.

The five session, program spans ten weeks and is available in two formats:

  • A one-to-one program tailored to you, and your specific needs

  • A group program. Participation in each group program is limited to six participants. Zoom is used to deliver the sessions. That means whether you are in New Zealand (or the world) you can participate. The program follows the same structure as the one-to-one program but without the personalization that the one-to-one program offers. The group program provides an affordable way to experience the benefits of GDH.

Important

Hypnosis4IBS delivers results but it’s NOT for those who are looking for a miracle cure. I’m being 100% straight with you. The program takes effort. It requires 100% commitment, and an investment of time and energy. The reality is, nothing any good is easy. Everything takes work. If you are looking for the next ‘magic pill’ then the program is not for you.
